O acidente entre um ônibus e um caminhão aconteceu no km 446 da BR 101 Sul, na altura de Mimoso do Sul. Foram pelo menos 26 vítimas – entre lesões leves e graves – no ônibus. Duas delas morreram, o motorista do ônibus e um passageiro. Segundo a Polícia Rodoviária Federal (PRF), a colisão aconteceu por volta das 4h desta sexta-feira (30).
O Veículo Scania que seguia sentido Vitória X Rio de Janeiro, desgovernou-se em uma curva executando “L”, onde o semi reboque invadiu a pista contrária e colidiu frontalmente contra o ônibus da empresa Águia Branca, que seguia sentido Rio X Vitória. Em seguida, o Mercedes Benz que seguia sentido Rio X Vitória, colidiu contra a carga derramada sobre a pista pela Scania. Um outro Mercedes Benz que seguia sentido Rio X Vitória, não conseguiu parar a tempo e colidiu na lateral do M. Benz 1118.
A Pista ficou totalmente interditada de 04h às 06h e à partir das 06h foi liberado na forma pare e siga. Por meio de nota, a Viação Águia Branca lamenta o acidente e informa que o ônibus transportava 38 passageiros e era conduzido pelo motorista Edmilson Hilário de Lima, 40 anos, que tinha 16 anos de experiência. Uma equipe da empresa foi imediatamente ao local apoiar a assistência às vítimas. A empresa ainda afirma que lamenta as mortes e que está prestando toda a assistência aos familiares e vítimas do acidente em atendimento no hospital.
